Mandela Day 2020

To date the foundation has changed the lives of many underprivileged South Africans offering various support and outreach relief programs whilst the foundation has been primarily supported and self-funded to date.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions of South Africans and the requests for food aid and support has been overwhelming.  This overwhelming plea for food aid, forces us to reach out to corporates to seek relief aid and support to maintain our foundations milestones.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 and SA lockdown, the Hope SA Covid Disaster Relief Fund was created.

Through partnerships with the well known Thava Indian Restaurant and Soup kitchens, Hope SA has fed more than 20 000 meals and  they have supported at least 5 000 people through various relief measures, which include the Hope SA food drive, clothing, blankets and food parcels. They have also donated PPE for doctors and medical staff at Baragwanath hospital, Leratong Hospital and now working with Tembisa Hospital.  Areas Hope SA works in include Randfontein, Rondebult, Actonville, Brixton, Tembisa, Fietas, Midrand, Meyerton, Vila Lisa, Bryanston informal settlements, Coronationville, Nigel and Ivory Park.

As the pandemic continues to impact our economy, they are experiencing a greater need to help more families and individuals that have been affected by this deadly virus.

They have partnered with a few corporates and the need for ongoing efforts require your support in the various ways:

  • Hope SA Food drive: Hope SA aims to feed at least 10 000 homeless and jobless individuals per month for the next 6 months. To achieve this, they require donations and financial aid.
  • Food parcels: 2000 food parcels per month for the next six months. These parcels will include basic grocery supplies for a month per household of R350.00 per food parcel. To achieve this, they require donations in the form of groceries and cash to the value of R700 000 per month
  • Hope SA Skills Development Relief Fund: This project will allow them to empower through various development programs which include basic computer training programs and certificates. The view of converting these skills into job creation opportunities. They have partnered with a training centre who is subsidising their training fees by 75%, offering bursary schemes to Hope SA. Ideally, they would like to train and develop 100 underprivileged students per month for the next 6 months and require funds for this. Many students have been adversely affected during 2020 and they are confident that this initiative will change lives and certainly give hope to the future of these children.
