The Trek4mandela 2020 expedition launched in Johannesburg

Yesterday the 17 October 2019, I visited the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg for the launch of the Trek4mandela 2020 expedition.

This annual expedition to summit Mount Kilimanjaro ( the highest peak in Africa ) on Mandela Day is created to support the Caring4girls campaign which supports girls who cannot afford sanitary pads.
The expedition was established by innovative social entrepreneur and humanitarian, Richard Mabaso and is led by renowned South African adventurer and motivational speaker, Sibusiso Vilane – the first black African to conquer the three Poles challenge: South Pole, North Pole and Mount Everest.

For the first time 2020 Expedition goals:
To ascend Kilimanjaro with different teams along all 6 routes, to summit Uhuru Peak together on at the same time on Mandela Day, July 18th.

In celebration of the success of the past Trek4Mandela Expeditions, the Imbumba Foundation in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, is proud to announce a bespoke 3-year series of Trek4Mandela campaigns:
2020: The Rainbow Nation Climb, themed Unity in Diversity;
2021: Two Expeditions: The Africa Day CEO’s Challenge and the Annual Mandela Day Expedition;
2020: 10th Year Anniversary Expedition

I attended the launch with great enthusiasm as I love hiking and adventure.
I believe we do not conquer mountains, but we do conquer our own beliefs and inner dialogues in order to climb a mountain.
